Controversial motor fuel with more ethanol raises concerns

Palm Beach Post -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency now allows E15, a blend of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline, to be sold, but don’t expect it to be offered in Florida any time soon. Nationwide, only a dozen or so stations in the corn ethanol-producing states of Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas sell it, according to the Renewable Fuels Association.

In fact, there’s a growing backlash against ethanol with diverse groups calling for repeal of the federal Renewable Fuels Standard that requires increasing amounts of the alternative fuel to be produced each year. The RFS requires refiners to blend 15 billion gallons of biofuels such as corn ethanol into the U.S. fuel supply by 2015.

The EPA has no clue what they are doing to the citizens and vehicles of the US and making the rest of the country do what should NOT be done. Somebody has put a stop to this ethanol crap in gasoline, Sneeky certainly isn't going to do anything about it. NO FUEL FROM FOOD! NO E-5, E-10, E-15 OR E-100 –> ONLY 'E-0' fuel is Allowed! Drives vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

So much for that thinking. Gas prices have been at record highs since 2008. Thanks for nothing. The only way I like my corn is on the lightly buttered on the cob.

The Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) requires the use of billions of gallons of non-petroleum fuel, largely ethanol, each year. Federal regulations require the use of reformulated fuel in certain areas: EPA site listing RFG mandate areas. Some state laws also mandate reformulated fuel. They may not explicitly state an ethanol requirement but that is what is used to achieve RFG standards in 99% of all cases.

Those are really conservative numbers. I would expect at least double those decreases for many vehicles.

However I do not I have a 1997. But in the long run ethanol may work but it cannot all come from CORN as we are seeing now, there has to be other methods. It however does not seem to be lowering our prices.
