Bad move: Gas station robber brings knife to gun fight

The Washington Times -- A knife-wielding thug who attempted to rob a Utah convenience store left empty handed after the clerk drew his gun and asked him to leave.

Luis Guiterrez Gonzales entered the Tesoro convenience store in Millcreek around noon Monday brandishing a knife. He demanded money from the store clerk, who drew his pistol instead, KSL Utah reports.

Owner of the Tesoro for five years, Ahmed Nazir, said he keeps the gun behind the counter for protection. He had never had to reach for it until Monday, he told KSL. “He just walked all the way over here, pulled out his knife and said, ‘Hey, open the register and give me your money.’ I thought, ‘Wow,’ ” Mr. Nazir said. “I pulled out my gun and I said, ‘Just leave your knife here and leave the store.’ And he left.”

What do you do if two guys come into the store and one guy walks down the aisle towards the back? The first guy draws a knife and when you draw your gun, the other guy comes up from the side, with his gun already drawn. Now what? Too many people think they can go all Tarantino if they have a gun. That piece won't do you a lot of good if you don't have the brains to assess the situation.
