It has been a very long time ago, maybe over 10 years ago and the reason I said that is since we became members of "Good Sam EM Road side assistance service" I got Lazy, And they are really good and quick to respond too, my sister belongs to another service and I won't mention its name and they are very slow, so we are very pleased from our BIG MOTOR-HOME to our CAR....

Now that I think of it, it may have been over 10 years. I hope I could still
do it if I had to. I'm sure it would mean cleaning out the trunk. That means I haven't checked the spare pressure in awhile either so it's probably flat.

I normally change my own tires when there is a flat, but bring it to the dealer when it needs rotation.

Rotated my Tires in my driveway and when deployed had a driver hit a curb which was shattered and sliced into the sidewall.

I've shown my daughters how to change a tire. They know where all the stuff is, jack, spare, and where the jack goes. The oldest had a flat while on a date. The boyfriend asks, what's a spare? Pathetic that kids aren't taught anything about the real world today.

I put snow tires on my two wheel drive Suburban last fall and will be taking them off shortly. I'll be rotating the tires on my sedan also. Do it yourself, make sure it's done right.

Used to do it all. On and off the Car, on and off the rims. Sometimes no matter how hard you try things happen. Last fall before the cold and snow started here, a Valve Stem had gotten bumped. Next morning, Flat. Off it came, paid about $15 to the local car service place to have them check it over and repair it. They do great work. It is still good. :) I actually miss not being able to do those things anymore because of Bad Knees!

A long time ago, it was back in the '90's on a narrow busy street back in New Zealand, I could feel the woosh of the traffic as they flew past me. I had 15 minutes to change the tire and get back to work. (It was my meal break).

Rotate the tires myself every oil change on both cars (every 5K miles). Haven't had a flat in years.

I have never changed a tire myself since I bought a portable air pump for my car. I have always been able to pump up a tire and drive to a repair shop.

I changed my tire last year when I got too close to a corner and snagged the cast iron piece on the drain and it ripped open my sidewall. No fix-a-flat will fix that. It went flat instantly and I too had problems with over-torqued lug nuts. I was taught to stand on and bounce on the wrench handle until the nut comes loose. The worst that can happen is to break off a lug, and you only need 3 out of 5. Everyone should be able to change a tire themselves for safety's sake. BTW, the answer to the comment earlier, TYRE = TIRE and I know they use that spelling in Australia and the UK.

For those that have experienced the use of today's scissor jacks, and those who have yet to do so. There are several things you can do to make it easier. Lubricate the screw shaft and all joints and run it all the way up and back. When you have a flat, lay the spare down and drive the car up on on the edge of it, be sure the valve is away from the car. Break all the lug nuts loose; then put the jack in place and begin to jack up the car. When the flat rim begins to rise, remove all the lug nuts. Then raise the car until you can wiggle the spare out from under, or wiggle the flat off the hub. The car may be high enough to put the spare on, or close to it.

We have an 18 inch extension and a half inch ratchet in each car, plus a socket that fits the lugs and the jack. The ratchet is much faster than 180 degrees and flipping. One of our 18" extensions is also a breaker bar which works well on the lug nuts.

The boy scouts taught me to "Be Prepared." So we also carry a hydraulic trolley jack. Last used at 2 am, 11 miles southwest of Henderson on US 79.
At home we have a floor jack.

5 to 10 years ago, but while doing brakes on my car. Did a wheel rotation at the same time, not because of a flat tire.

I'd like to have. In spite of getting good arm exercise drumming, I couldn't budge the stupid lug nuts even with my large cross-style lug nut wrench, as with the last rotation, either the pneumatic wrench they put them on was overtorqued, or corrosion had welded them on.
