Oil, gasoline open lower Monday, spike in Great Lakes?

GasBuddy Blog -- Crude oil and gasoline spot prices have started the work week by giving up some of their late-week gains from last week. Crude oil was down $1.31/bbl at 9:30am ET Monday while gasoline spot prices were moving lower by 5-6 cents per gallon. Spot prices are a guiding factor for gasoline terminals to adjust their prices, meaning what happens on the market today will lead to terminals adjusting their prices later today after the market has closed.

Even with the downtown early Monday, prices still may spike today in the Great Lakes states thanks to spot prices jumping 10c/gallon Friday in the region, leading terminals to raise their prices to follow. I don't care what they say the reason is, it pure gouging. If they had better management at the refineries, they would have planned ahead and built up some inventory to allow for maintenance down time. Go ahead oil companies and refineries, finish off our already fragile economy.

Instead the gas stations raised prices by 27 cents per gallon. This just goes to show you they can do whatever they want with gas prices.
