Hyundai, Kia recall 1.9 million vehicles

GasBuddy Blog -- Back in November we reported that Hyundai and Kia got themselves in trouble with mileage claims on vehicles that may have stretched things just a bit too far...

And on top of that Hyundai is recalling about 194,000 Elantras made from 2011 to 2013 to fix an...

Too bad, they have been building good quality vehicles for some time now. Sounds like their supplier provided bad parts.

QA is either getting sloppy across the board or there is way better monitoring and accountability being applied to the manufacturers these days (or both!).

Good that they are taking responsibility; it would be nice if Ford would on my Focus which has never come close to advertised efficiency.

Sounds very fair to me. Lack of QUALITY CONTROL at all stages of manufacturing, research and design are the car companies responsibility.

Perhaps I should buy American? We have tried all the American brands, and did not enjoy any of them. Our current favorite is Toyota(we've owned 5 in the last 20 years), they may cost more, but they are more reliable.

Can happen to any company. Problems usually lie with the parts suppliers, not the vehicle manufacturers.

Hyundai, Kia recall 1.9 million vehicles, that's a lot of vehicles to recall!
Faulty brake switch's and vehicle parts are sometimes made and installed – it happens!
That's the purpose of automotive recalls!
It depends on how fast the manufacturer will notify customers and how quickly they repair the problem/s.
Drive vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!
